Informations
PCC stands for paper, cardboard and cardboard. These fabrics are produced from a wide variety of sources – from packaging and writing materials to newspapers and cardboard boxes. Waste paper is the most common material flow, as it occurs in almost every household, office and business. PPK includes printer paper, writing paper, newspapers, magazines, flyers and advertising leaflets. In addition, cardboard that was used for shipping material or product packaging. In addition, cartons, the thicker, more stable forms of cardboard, which were used for example moving boxes or larger packaging for electronic devices.
These materials are mainly made of cellulose fibers and can be recycled multiple times, making them a valuable resource in the circular economy system. Waste paper can pollute the environment if disposed of improperly, although it is in principle biodegradable. Paper, cardboard and cardboard are made from wood, which means that large amounts of wood, water and energy are needed for production. By recycling waste paper, the need for new raw materials is reduced. When waste paper ends up in landfills, it takes up valuable space and decomposes slowly. This leads to unnecessary waste volumes and lower resource use.
By recycling paper, cardboard and cardboard, these materials can be used multiple times. This not only saves raw materials, but also energy and water, which are consumed in new production. A higher recycling rate also reduces the amount of CO₂ generated during paper production.
Instructions for the disposal
PCC waste should be collected separately from residual waste. In most cities and municipalities, there are special waste paper containers or bins in which paper, cardboard and cardboard can be disposed of. Make sure PPK waste is clean. Soiled materials, such as food scraps, grease or other waste, are not recyclable and must be disposed of in the residual waste. Large cardboard boxes should be shredded or folded before disposal to save space in the waste paper containers. Paper that is coated with plastic or aluminium, such as tetrapaks or baking paper, does not belong in the PCC waste as it cannot be recycled.
Hazard classes
Waste paper is not classified as dangerous goods and is therefore not classified as such. This means that no special hazardous goods classes or safety precautions have to be observed during disposal. The only exception is if paper or cardboard is contaminated by hazardous substances such as chemicals, varnishes or oils. In this case, the material must be disposed of as hazardous waste, as it is no longer recyclable and can release potentially harmful substances. In such cases, you should contact a specialized disposal point or disposal company.
